with over 170 wineries and a quality masterclass program with five Consortia

 

SHENZHEN, JULY 26, 2021 – The Italian wine presents itself in Shenzhen with the largest national pavilion and with an unprecedented number of consortium masterclasses in Asia. In fact, at the second edition of Wine to Asia, thanks to a strong commitment from ITA / ICE Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Pavilion has more than doubled compared to the 2020 edition and reaches 170 wineries from 16 Italian regions. Italy will be present with five consortia from north to south and with six masterclasses. Consorzio Tutela Soave, Consorzio Franciacorta, Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella, Consorzio Tutela Vini D’Abruzzo and Wines of Sicilia DOC await operators from all over China.

China records the highest percentage growth in the world for Italian wine. In China, in the first four months of 2021, Italian wine grew by 73% to 41 million euros. Italy ranks third in imported wines and follows France and Chile. For the first time Italy reaches double figures and reaches 10.30 percent of bottled wine exported to China. For sparkling wines, on the other hand, Italy is in second place, second only to France.

With the vast and varied terroir, Italy is home to 20 regions with more than 400 grape varieties and more than 20,000 wineries. According to the 2020 Global Wine Consumption and Production Report of the International Organization

of Grape and Wine (OIV), Italy remains the world’s largest wine producer and exporter.

The Italian Pavilion at Wine to Asia, with 170 wineries, will represent the best of Italian wine from North to South with small, medium, and large wineries. The Pavilion at its entrance will be opened from Southern Italy and the first wineries that the visitors will discover will be from Sicily and from Sicily it will go from Apulia to Campania up to the central part with Tuscany and Umbria and will end with the Northern regions with Piedmont, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. You can taste the most famous wines such as Amarone, Aglianico, Barolo, Barbaresco and Brunello, Chianti and many Italian sparkling wines but not only. There will in fact be space to discover wines from less famous wineries and from native grapes not yet distributed in China.

The Italian Pavilion will have a wine bar lead by CICC (Italian Chamber of Commerce) and ITA will present Italian DOP and IGP products as snack food.

Italy will be present with some of the key importers and customized booths from other wineries.
